Diabetes Awareness Walk

In service to our community and our mission, the Goshen NY Lions Club is proud to facilitate a diabetes awareness walk on June 7, 2025. This event aims to raise awareness about diabetes and support children with type 1 diabetes. The funds raised from the walk will benefit children by providing them with the opportunity to attend Camp Nejeda in Stillwater, NJ, for a week of diabetes education. Event Details The diabetes awareness walk will take participants on the Heritage Trail through the scenic routes of Goshen portion of the trail, allowing the community to come together and show their support for this vital cause. The event will kick off at 8 AM at St James Place where participants can register, collect their event t-shirts, and find information about diabetes care and management. walking/running 2.5 miles towards Chester NY, turning around at the golf driving range back to St James Place to complete 5 miles. Participants can complete the 5 miles or turn back at their discretion. Purpose of the Walk The primary goal of the diabetes awareness walk is to educate the community about type 1 diabetes and its impact on children and their families. By participating in the walk, you will help raise funds that will enable children with type 1 diabetes to attend Camp Nejeda. The camp offers a unique and supportive environment where children can learn about managing diabetes, gain confidence, and build lasting friendships with peers who share similar experiences. About Camp Nejeda Camp Nejeda, located in Stillwater, NJ, is a specialized camp that focuses on diabetes education and support for children with type 1 diabetes. The camp provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can participate in various activities, learn about diabetes management, and receive guidance from experienced medical professionals. By attending Camp Nejeda, children gain valuable skills and knowledge that empower them to lead healthier and more independent lives. How to Participate To join the diabetes awareness walk, participants can register online through the Goshen NY Lions Club website or on the day of the event at St James Place. Registration fees and donations will go directly to support the camp experience for the children. Participants are encouraged to invite friends, family, and colleagues to join them in this meaningful event. Sponsorship and Donations Local businesses and individuals can also contribute by becoming sponsors of the diabetes awareness walk. Sponsorship opportunities include providing financial support, donating goods and services for the event, or volunteering time. All sponsorships and donations will be acknowledged during the event and through the Goshen NY Lions Club's various communication channels.
